Already Hold SITXFSA005? Finish Your Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
If you completed SITXFSA005 (or the older SITXFSA001) with another training provider in the last 5 years, you don’t need to redo it. We recognise that unit by credit transfer, and you complete only SITXFSA006 — the second unit the Food Safety Supervisor certificate requires. Same nationally recognised certificate at the end. Not available for NSW certification — see below.
In NSW? This option isn’t for you. NSW requires the full NSW Food Safety Supervisor course completed with a single approved provider — a unit brought in from elsewhere doesn’t satisfy that rule. Go straight to the full NSW Food Safety Supervisor course instead ($164 all-in, your NSW certificate included).
Who this is for
This $89 option is for people who already hold SITXFSA005 (or its older equivalent, SITXFSA001) from another registered training organisation, completed within the last 5 years, who are not enrolling for NSW certification. It is not a discounted version of the full course — it is a shorter one, because part of the work is already done and evidenced.
Not sure that’s you? If you’ve never done food safety training before, your prior unit is older than 5 years, or you need the NSW certificate, the full Food Safety Supervisor course is $129, covers both units from scratch, and needs no verification step before you start.
Why this exists
The Food Safety Supervisor skill set, SITSS00069, is made up of two units: SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006. SITXFSA005 is not a formal prerequisite of SITXFSA006 — but the FSS certificate requires both units on record with one provider. If you’ve already completed SITXFSA005 somewhere else, redoing it from scratch just to get a certificate you’re one unit short of doesn’t make sense. We formally recognise your existing unit — genuine, evidenced credit transfer, not a shortcut around the rules — and you study and get assessed on SITXFSA006 only.

FSS Certificate Completion — FAQs
What is SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006?
They’re the two nationally recognised units that together make up the Food Safety Supervisor skill set, SITSS00069. SITXFSA005 is “use hygienic practices for food safety”; SITXFSA006 is “participate in safe food handling practices”. To hold the full FSS certificate you need both units on record with one provider — this product is for people who already have SITXFSA005 (or its older equivalent, SITXFSA001) from somewhere else and just need SITXFSA006.
Am I eligible for the $89 option?
You’re eligible if all of these are true: you completed SITXFSA005 (or the older SITXFSA001) with another registered training organisation, it was within the last 5 years, and you’re not enrolling for NSW certification. If any of those don’t apply — you’ve never done food safety training before, your unit is older than 5 years, or you need the NSW certificate — the full $129 Food Safety Supervisor course is the right one for you instead, and it covers both units from scratch.
Is SITXFSA005 a prerequisite for SITXFSA006?
No — the official unit document lists no prerequisite for SITXFSA006. The reason this product exists is different: the Food Safety Supervisor certificate itself requires both units on record. If you already hold SITXFSA005 from elsewhere, we recognise it by credit transfer instead of asking you to sit it again, so you only pay for and complete SITXFSA006.
Why isn’t this available in NSW?
NSW requires the full NSW Food Safety Supervisor course to be completed with a single approved provider — a unit credit-transferred in from elsewhere doesn’t satisfy that rule. If you’re in NSW, enrol in the full NSW Food Safety Supervisor course instead ($164 all-in, includes your NSW certificate).
How do you verify my existing SITXFSA005?
After you enrol, our team checks your evidence — a USI transcript is the easiest — against a registered training organisation record before your course opens, and we email you as soon as it is done. If it checks out, you go straight into SITXFSA006. If it doesn’t, we’ll talk you through your options — including a full refund under our money-back guarantee.
What if my prior unit is older than 5 years, or I can’t prove it?
Then this option isn’t the right fit — the full Food Safety Supervisor course is $129 and covers both units from scratch, with no prior training needed and no verification step to wait on.
Is the certificate any different from the $129 course?
No. Both routes end in the same nationally recognised Food Safety Supervisor Statement of Attainment, issued by Melbourne Tech Institute (RTO #45799), naming both units. Nothing on your certificate shows which path you took to get there.
How much does it cost?
$89 AUD, one payment, no add-ons available on this product (NSW certification and Express aren’t offered on it — see the FAQs above for why).
Doesn’t sound like you?
New to food safety training, or in NSW?
Most people take the full Food Safety Supervisor course — $129, both units, no prior training needed, certificate within 1 business day. In NSW, start with the full NSW Food Safety Supervisor course instead ($164 all-in).
